additional nuvi sound files - needed or not?

garmin has added another new sound file "ELFRED" (go to garmin garage / voices)in an effort to provide content that has been requested by some of their clients.

file have imbedded "holiday quips" as well as the normal sound files to provide verbal directions for the NUVI followers - similar to their "DR NIGHTMARE" that came out for this past october. Nuvi does not have as many "feature" voices as other GPS providers - but then again - should they?

thoughts?

seeking feedback - anyone want to respond to the need for additional voices for the NUVI series - should Garmin succumb to the commercial impact of technology - or adhere to the true functional quality?

Pass

I didn't bother, besides, its not compatible with my 660.

Nuvi Sound Files

Of course they aren't really needed...a choice between male and female voices are fine.

TomTom has a bunch of celebrity voices which they charge extra for. I guess if you like the novelty it's ok, I mean having additional voices available can't hurt. It seems like the novelty would soon wear off though.

If you really want you can get novelty voices at www.Pigtones.com

Garmin Voices

I happen to like the option of new voices from Garmin. My unit, a standard Nuvi 200 is bare bones with the exception of the added POI from POI-Factory. For those of you that have operated with the mechanical voices that come standard, these new voices increase the enjoyability of the unit and definitely add value. It has increased my brand loyalty and has caused me to recommend Garmin to someone that was looking for a GPS. They ended up buying a Garmin.
