Both Dr. Nightmare and Elf voice packs don't work on my Nuvi 350. #$%%^^

A little tied of the system voices. Looking for a change..anyone have other to pass on?

According to Garmin:

* Not compatible with the nüvi 300 series or nüvi 600 series.

I just installed

this in my 200. Love it.

I have a garmin 250 and

I have a garmin 250 and tried downloading the voice last night using the communicator option, and I don't see that it is in my list of languages. What did I do wrong?

I wonder why they don't make extra voice packs for the 3's and 6 series

Loading the new voice

The only options are to load the voice directly into the unit or to your computer. Using Communicator isn't one of them. Go back to the Garmin Garage, connect your NUVI and select Download to Device. It will take about a minute or so (the voice file is almost 10 MB). Then select the voice under the language option screen. The alternative is to download the zip file, unzip the voice and then place it in the Garmin\Voice file on the unit.

I bet that I sent my Elfs to about 20 people last year. It is fun and easy to do.

That's all well and good,

That's all well and good, but that is what I did...according to their site, you need the communicator installed to download direct to the device (and according to their directions, they say if you don't have communicator, you need to download it to use direct to device options). So, that is the option I used, and it doesn't seem to show up in the languages.

Not so, the Garmin Communicator IS required to load the voice directly to the unit. The other option is to download it to your computer, then transfer it later per the instructions.

Kingoftheicedragons, I would venture a guess that your Nuvi 250 does not have the required newer version of software for the voice to be recognized.
Have you tried using web updater to see if this is the case?
Good luck with this.

Elfred

I installed this before our trip to San Antonio. The kids laughed the whole way down and back about Elfred. Some of the comments were hilarious!

Just downloaded to my 255W. Fun voice, but no street names. I wonder why Garmin left that out?

thanks, installed

Installed on my 760, works great, with some cute comments. I think it's going away right after Christmas though!

TTS

Because it isn't a Text To Speech voice. It's just a generic voice with the standard phrases in it.
