Poi not in the right places. Garmin SP7200

I'm really new at this, I have downloaded some poi files and they are really useful. I have also been trying to make some of my own. I am a cross country truck driver, so I get across country to a lot of places fast. The problem I am having is. I save as favorites all of the places I want to make a poi for.I have been using the entrance to get the co-ordinances. I then use poi edit to make a excel file. In excel i make sure to use 5 decimal places. The problem is that when I view the poi, it isn't in exactly the right place, sometimes as much as a block off. For example the Flying J in El Paso, from the FJ file was so far off that it showed up at the wrong exit. When I corrected it, it was closer but not really in the right place yet. My marker for a saved favorite was in exactly the right place, which is where I got the co-ordinances from in the first place.
Also I tried using co-ordinances from Streets and Trips, and they weren't even close.
Am I being too picky or is there something I'm not doing right?
Thanks
Dick

How did you obtain the coordinates of the locations you saved to Favorites?
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
I got them by saving when I
I got them by saving when I pulled into the actual location.
.
Are you making sure that you are using the correct coordinate format when you are getting the lat and long from the GPS unit or from Streets and Trips?
I think so, I have used
I think so, I have used POIedit and also done the calc manually and they come out the same.
40°52'40"N becomes 40.87333
85°37'20"W becomes -85.62000

What I meant was, by what method are you obtaining the actual coordinates of each of the Favorites?

When I get to a location I save the coordinates as a favorite then download favorites to mapsource I use those coordinates to make the poi file. The location comes from my gps
Try this
The Favorites are stored in a file on the Garmin called current.gpx (At least that what it's named in my nuvi 850). This file will contain all the waypoints you created, such as the exact entrance to the FJ.
Use GeePeeEx Editor to open current.gpx. It will display all your favorites as waypoints.
Select (check) all the ones that you want to use in your FJ custom POI.
Save As Flying_J.gpx to your PC.
Use POI Loader to load Flying_J.gpx back into your SP as a custom POI.

Is your MapSource set to use the DECIMAL DEGREE coordinate format?
