Buffalo Wild Wings Project Discussion

This is one of those older files that got uploaded and never updated. Grenvoy just updated the file and I see that the original user had rounded the Longitude and Latitude to the tens unit.

This file needs to be corrected so that it will reflect the correct locations.

Please post below if you can help get this file fixed. The file on the site includes the improvements that Grenvoy made.

It's a bulk Geocode, but the lat long is now 7 decimal places

Can you compare it to the file that is uploaded to make sure that the items that Grenvoy added are still reflected. Those items are the only ones that have the proper Longitude and Latitude rounding.

I used the 422 line file from your initial post as the input. If the lines were in that file, it is there but I did not verify the coordinates were exactly the same.

I copied the CSV and pasted it into a text document, deleted the quotation marks, pasted it back into a spreadsheet and deleted the dashes from the text and then fed the addresses into GPSVisualizer. A real quick and dirty geocode.

Once GPSVisualizer returned the codes, I then fed the output back into a text document, put the commas in as delimiters and created a new CSV. Swapped the lat/long columns, created column C with Wild Wings - and combined the city with the state/zip to make column D.

I just e-mailed Miss POI a file for her consideration.

Here's what I did.

1. Based on the address given in the original post, I ran a batch geocode, using http://www.batchgeocode.com/.

2. Since batchgeocode.com isn't always accurate, I replaced only those coordinates in the original file that were rounded to two decimal places.

3. I added Dubuque, IA location as given by geochapman.

Since a_user got the file done first, I say let's use his. I only worked on the file because I didn't see if the comparison was made.

BTW, is "BlackBerrying" a word?

I have A_user's update posted now, there is now a 3 or 4 column option.

The East Lansing MI location in the file is about 1 mile off location and, interestingly, is a frat house.

The correct location according to the B-dub website is:

Just thought I should suggest a correction. Was an interesting side trip in the snow yesterday, but in the end the wings and beer were satisfying.

Didn't see that was already posted.. Guess that is what I get posting before looking at the updated file.

I try to keep all the locations in a state together. Makes for easier editing for those that don't want a national file and also makes it easy to check to see if a reported location is already in the file.

Sorry for the misstatement - I double checked and you are correct. I viewed the file and the address is fine but evidently my nuvi 200 goes to the location not the address. The location in google earth for that address is:

When I looked up the location shown in the file ( -84.48 42.74 ) it is close to being the frat house that I mentioned.

It looks like a lot of the coordinates in the file are truncated. I'd be glad to help you extend them if you need it though I am not sure how to do so efficiently.

....and what with reviewing the earlier discussion I realized I had the old file. I grabbed the new one and it's already updated. It sounded as though the updated one was posted before I grabbed it but I guess not. So anyway thank you!

Glad we cleared that up. This was the main reason for redoing the file - truncated coordinates.

Thank you. I've updated the file and Richmond is now line 497.

There are several ways to post an update to a file, one of the better ways is just what you did here, post it in the discussion group for that POI. Another way is to see who is listed as the file maintainer and click on their name, then the contact tab to send an email.

The other method used is to send a message to Miss POI and she will either contact the maintainer or do the update herself.
