Name WayPoints from Mapquest

I have a Nuvi 350 that does not except routes. I went to Mapquest and created a route and then used the drag and drop feature to change the route. I sent this to my Nuvi and it shows up as waypoints, however, they are scattered around my favorites based on the street names. I can use these waypoints individually on my route but it is hard to determine the order because of how they come out from Mapquest. Can I better control this process in Mapsource or do you have any ideas besides renaming them in my favorites one at a time?

Just a suggestion.Why don't

Just a suggestion. Why don't you use Easygps http://www.easygps.com/download.asp and save your favorites.Take out the ones you want the route for and save as a gpx file or convert to csv.

That's how Mapquest does it. You have to use (waypoints) on an individual basis. The waypoints are arranged in order by me on one screen. I select the point, and it ask to select next, and so forth. I haven't tried sending a route from MSN however it most likely works the same as Mapquest.

Thanks, I looked at easygps

Thanks, I looked at Easygps and will download it tonight when I get home. Can you tell me briefly how I will use this software to solve the problem I mentioned above? Do I plot a route on easy gps or what do I do?

Do I get the waypoints in Mapquest and then use Easygps to convert them to a custom POI?

I am not quite sure how to use this software in order to create a route if my Nuvi does not support routes?

I guess I don't understand

I guess I don't understand the problem. When I make a waypoint in Mapsource, I modify the name to what I want and then that name carries over to my GPS when I transfer. ????

MrKenFL- "Money can't buy you happiness .. But it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery." NUVI 260, Nuvi 1490LMT & Nuvi 2595LMT all with 2014.4 maps !

I didn't make the waypoint

I didn't make the waypoints in Mapsource, I made them in Mapquest. I have a Nuvi 350 and I loaded poiloader. I don't think I have Mapsource.

waypoint to gpx file

I am just saying to use the points you want and make a regular custom poi file with it.Once you download the file to your gps it will show by the closest ones to you.Just touch one of them at a time and keep going down the line until you complete all of them. You may be able to just use two points if you are trying to force a route to go like you want it.On Easygps after downloading.Click on GPS at top and then receive from GPS.You will see all your favorites and the lower part of the screen.Delete out the ones you don't want and then click on file at top of screen and then click save as.You will save it as a gpx file. You may want to save all your favorites while you are at it on your computer for later use.

Now that I understand about Easygps, how does Mapsource work? I down load it from Garmin and then what do I use this for and how do I use it? Thanks

When you transfer your data

When you transfer your data from your GPS to EASY GPS software it will show all the waypoints that is on your GPS. Delete the ones on EASY GPS you don't want to be ON your route. All it will be doing is, placing all the waypoints ON your route under one heading in your Custom POI's. Look for the name of the GPX file you created in your Extra's. They won't be scattered all over now. Make sense!

If there are 3 way points

If there are 3 way points will there be 3 custom POI's or 1 custom POI with 3 points?

If there is 1 custom POI then I assume you select the custom POI and then individually select each way point until you arrive at your destination? Is that right? Thanks so much for taking time to explain this. Some features on the GPS I am very good on but I haven't worked with waypoints or EasyGps before.

You got it, one custom POI with 3 waypoints. You can use anyone you like. Thinking you wanted to stop at all of the addresses you had listed in your Route. You said they were spread all over the place. Now you know how to group them under one custom. Just pick Grandmaw's house, stop by, then on to uncle Harry's, and finally to your cousin Bubba! If you decide you don't have enough time to visit Grandmaw, and Uncle Harry, just punch Bubba, HTH! grin

I downloaded EasyGPS and I

I downloaded EasyGPS and I can see all my favorites or way points created in Mapquest. How do I use this program to change these into a custom POI? The EasyGPS doesn't appear to be so easy.

.

You should be able to save the file in EasyGPS as a GPX file format. Then you can load this as one of your Custom POI sets.

Go up to the top of the page and look for file and click on it.Then click save as.It saves as a gpx file like MM stated. After saving it just add the file to your folder like you did for other custom pois and run poiloader.
