Garmin Nuvi 660

I own a garmin Nuvi 660 for over a year now and I never figure out how I can take the speed zone alert sound built into the system. It is a continuous tone that sounds like a dull sound of a bell and a message appears that I'm in the speed zone of 2 miles per hour.
Does anyone know how to turn this feature off?. My wifes gets irritated whenever she hears this alert sound. Any help is appreciated.

Is it part of a custom POI

Is it part of a custom POI file?

Either way, I'm pretty sure there is a setting to turn off all alerts.

It will turn off all alerts but turn on your gps then to to the wrench, then navaigation and then attention tones and turn them off. If it is a custom atert you need to find it and take out the speed and that should stop the alert from sounding.

.

If you are getting a 2mph speed alert, this is likely coming from the number "2" in the file name of one of the Custom POIs that you have loaded.

Your options are to rename the file eliminating the number and then reload your Custom POIs.

Or reload the Custom POIs and select Manual Mode instead of Express Mode, and deselect the alert for that file.

I'm pretty sure that attention tones are only for navigational announcements, and not speed alerts from POIs. You can turn off all alerts under Wrench/ProximityPoints/Change.

As MM says, the right way to fix it is to remove the number from the filename and reload.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
