I am new to GPS systems and just order my first GPS this morning. I order the Nuvi 350 to be exact. While I was reading reviews and watching videos on the 350 I stumbled across this site and I am very pleased with all the information and POI available. I have downloaded 14 POI already mainly all the site seeing ones since photography is my life. (Photography is the reason why I decided to purchase a GPS)
POI Factory made a first good impression, so I will be sure to come back and back again and be part of this community.
Make sure you read the FAQ and Getting Started sections at the top. They will help you get your unit up and running in no time.
Welcome to the Site hope you enjoy lots of good info is here and we all try to help one another
most important have fun
And don't get lost navigating the site.
lol, I wont. I have been learning so much visiting this site, like loading POIs and creating POIs. During my winter break I plan I building and uploading my own POI. I also found that GPS Waypoint has some great stuff. Their stuff is mostly country based. I downloaded one POI for USA Parks (I believe since I am not on my PC to check) and it was 3Mb is size, which is huge, but POI Factory will be my definitive resource for POIs. I'm anxious/excited to finally get a GPS and check these POI out, but probably will not get it until Christmas.
Welcome to the site.If you run into any problems you will find plenty of help here.
I'm sure you'll learn a lot here and find friendly people as I have.
It is nice to have you with us;)
This is a great website
I have a Nuvi 350 also and photography is my passion too. I shoot Nikon and Canon and use Lightroom and CS3 for editing.
Purchase a flash card for your nuvi and copy your best photos to it. Then you can take it with you and easily show your work. Have you done that yet? Put your best photo on your spash screen. You will love your Nuvi 350 and be amazed at what it will do for your. Enjoy!
Enjoy this site, you will find it to be full of the most knowledgeable people on the Internet when it comes to POI's for their particular GPSr's, and there are many out their now.
If you need any help just use the search function on the top of each page, after not finding what you want just ask and you will be overwhelmed with help.
I hope you have your camera set up to Geotag your photos so you can show us a gallery of your work on Google earth. I look forward to seeing some of your stuff.
I use Lightroom 2.1 and Adobe Master Collection CS3. For now I use Adobe CS3 for all my editing since I have not finished my LR training. I am mainly a Nikon user since I just got into Photography this year, and still have so much still left to learn.
The good news is that my GPS shipped today, and is coming from Nevada which is like 8Hrs away.
I would like to share a great site to help you with your GPS. When I was a new user I found this to be very informative.
Also, your will find that Lightroom is great for enhancing your photos and keeping them organized. I print my own pictures and the Lightroom print ability far exceeds CS3. Use the instructions to turn your printer functions off and use the icc paper profiles to print. You will be amazed at the difference in quality. Enjoy!
Thanks, I have been doing research on GPS for the past week and half.
I do all my printing using lightroom, as I also found it better then CS3. I am a big Scott Kelby fan and all my reading/training is written from him. These are the following books I own or will own in a few weeks.
Scott Kelby: 7-Point System for Adobe Photoshop CS3
Scott Kelby: The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers
Scott Kelby: The Digital Photography Book
Scott Kelby: The Digital Photography Book Vol. 2
