Are you getting any kind of message from the POI Loader? When you say it freezes, what is it doing when this happens? Were you able to select which poi to load, set any alert information (assuming you are setting alerts in manual mode)?

Every time you run the POI Loader program, the old file is erased and the new file is stored. If you load red light cameras and quit, then load speed cameras and quit, then load rest stops and stop and finally load a restaurant file, the only custom POI on the unit are the restaurants.

Depending on the number of POI and the size of the individual files, it can take a little bit of time for the program to read all the data, convert it and then store the GPI file on your Garmin. How long do you wait before deciding its frozen?

Sounds like a ram issue.

Are you waiting long enough?

I use POI Loader in manual mode with my nuvi and find that once I've set the final POI settings and the transfer begins (with the normal Windows hourglass), the transfer can take quite a while. I imagine that the larger the POI file being transferred, the longer it'll take. Can it be that you just need to wait a bit? When successful, the Windows hourglass disappears and you should get a "xxxxx POIs succesfully loaded" (or something close to this). If you are getting the hourglass after setting the final POI inputs, try waiting a minute or more before panicking (as I did the first couple of times I tried using POI Loader) because things may not be frozen as you think.

As CraigW asked, are you waiting long enough? It has been discussed here before that some GPX files are huge and can take 8-10 minutes to load depending on your PC and USB speed.
