Nuvi 760 - Custome POI's Loaded, But no alerts show up, Am i missing something?
So i loaded the POI's through the Garmin POI loader, installed great, can see them all under extra's.
For example, is the GPS meant to alert you there is a Starbucks comming up, if i have that POI file loaded?
If so, mine is not.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance
Did you manually load
Did you load the POIs with POI Loader in the manual mode, set alerts and do you have the proximity alerts activated on your GPSr unit.

How do you figure? Express mode doesn't set alerts for files that have no built-in alerts.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
You can set
If you want a file to alert you, you have to load in manual mode. Then you can set a speed or distance alert. If you want the file to have a custom sound (besides a ding) then you need to have a mp3 file named the same as your csv/gpx file.
starbucks.csv
starbucks.mp3
You must also remember that if the coordinates are not close to the road you are on, then you will not get an alert. Poi's only alert if they are on the "route" you are driving.

Unless you have named the csv/gpx file with TourGuide in the title. Then you don't have to have the alert point on your route... and you can set (in manual mode) the distance away from the point you want the alert to sound, whether it's on the route or at right angles to it.
