Chit Chat Thread for the week of November 10, 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Because you had his tooth removed or because you don't call him snaggle tooth anymore? grin

I hope he feels better, is he a old cat?

He's still called gris gris.... except when he wakes me at 5 a.m. (which he does frequently) or when I step on a fur ball, then I have a few other names I call him... (The choice one end with "head") evil But he does seem to feel better... He didn't wake-me till 5:30 a.m. this morning.. rolleyes edit: hmmmm that's kinda redundent isn't it?

Ao, are you from New Orleans? That is the place where I first discovered the term "Gris Gris", which means one with the evil eye, right? Or a voodoo doctor? Good name for a grumpy grouchy old cat.....and "Capt GrisGris" is the name I once used to sign a no trespassing sign, indicating that no one friendly lived there. All the sign said was, "PLEASE DON'T FEED THE SNAKES."

Missed being here most of the week...

Yes, I did. And I also discovered that my GPS battery was about dead. The MSN Direct would not update in the house, so I left it in the car overnight (our neighborhood is very quiet and off the beaten path.).

And one morning very early next week, we pack up our troubles and head south for the winter, not to return to Mass. until late May. For me, the trip will be a return home. For my husband, it will be a getaway from home. It would be hard to say which of us is more looking forward to the relocation. NOT the trip....truly he does not like to drive, and I do. I love the process of getting somewhere, and consider the time spent travelling as part of the adventure. More later. Gotta go.

I just want to see 2 'good' NY NFL teams (finally) play each other in the SUPER BOWL on my 54" high def TV, in my recliner, in the comfort of my warm living room, munching on goodies, drinking beer and hoping I have the winning scores in my Super Bowl boxes! mrgreen

No hard feelings but I like it on the cool side! wink

BTW, I lived/worked in Miami during the infamous Liberty City & Mariel incidents! neutral

But I like Dr. John the "gris gris" man... Gris Gris (the cat) is black... (see my avitar) and my wife is a witch... shock

I understood Gris-gris to mean a Voodoo amulet that protects the wearer from evil or brings luck. This use of the word Gris-Gris usually describes a small cloth bag worn on the person. Inside is placed a mixture of one or more of the following: herbs, oils, stones, bones, hair, nails, grave dirt, or other personal items.

To put the 'Gris~gris' on someone is also to conjure a hex. (Which my wife sometimes does to me if I don't do as told).... evil

And on top of that Mercury is in retrograde and next month the sun is moving out of Ophiuchus... rolleyes

Southern California is on fire...

It's really smokey in good ole Silver Lake, I normally can see down town L.A., today I can't... Fires in Brea, Diamond Bar, Corona, Placerita Canyon... The smell of smoke is intense outside... One son's home is in the path of a fire, another son is a fire fighter and is out fighting fires... It's all very disturbing... 100's of homes lost... sad

Haven't filled up in a month

Yeah, not running the roads as much these days. So cannot say how much gas is here in Chelmsford MASS.
We'll remedy that later in the week when we pack it in and begin the trek south.

The MSN Direct updated itself when we drove up to Bedford NH for dinner at the Bedford Village Inn on Saturday night. Now all I have to do is follow directions to change the home area of the MSN from
NW of Boston to central Gulf Coast.

Sad -

It's sad that so many people have lost their homes, but, it seems to me, to be twice as bad during the Holidays. My prayers go out to them.

Blinded by Speed Camera's Flash

I was traveling on I-10 two nights ago and some idiot came screaming by me past a speed camera. The flash was so bright and in all the motorists eyes. I'm wondering if anyone's ever had an accident from the flash going off in driver's faces.
