Convert .mp3 Audio Book to .aa?

Hey everybody.

I have a bunch of audio books in .mp3 format. Does anyone know of any way to convert them to .aa so they're bookmarkable? Or is there a way to convert them and play them as bookmarkable .mp3 files on the Garmin?

Nope

Sadly, there does not appear to be a way to convert mp3 to aa format. Or to make an mp3 bookmarkable on the Nuvi.

If you are trying to make them bookmarkable for your garmin...

You can't. I nave converted mp3 files to every type of file AA Mp4 etc, but only audible.coms format works in the audio book part of the gps... sad

Thanks, BobDee. I don't see that it can convert to .aa, but I'll check it out.

Thanks, aophiuchus, but I don't quite understand. You said you converted them to AA. AA is the Audible.com format. I'm not seeing a way to convert them to the .aa format, as it seems to be proprietary to Audible.com, but if there was a way to convert them, it seems like they should run.

Probably Meant AAC

He probably meant aac.

I have a $5 reward for anyone who can provide a link to a program which can convert a file to aa format.

.AA is propietary...

It seems to be a propietary form of mp4, I have a program that converts to all forms mentioned by the program that is linked above. I tried to convert to a format that would be accepted by the Garmin withour luck. I misspoke when I said .aa...

Anyhow I spent a lot of time trying to find a way to convert it without success...

As a side note a program you can use to convert protected WMA files to unprotected mp3 is sound taxi...

.aa is a proprietary format, but there are software programs that can convert to other proprietary formats.

I wonder why it is so hard for someone to make an .aa converter, or maybe there is just not enough demand for that format.

Thanks for clarifying that aophiuchus.

I wonder why Garmin doesn't include codecs to play different formats-at least bookmarkable mp3 would have been nice. They probably have a good deal with Audible.
