What's hottest Garmin for this Xmas?

Hi all,

What's the hottest Garmin model for this Christmas?

Thanks...

Wow, tough question to

Wow, tough question to answer!

Would the hottest model be the most feature rich, most economical model, or combined best feature & cost for the money?

Is the hottest the model with most sales, or the unit that everyone drools over yet cannot afford or do not see value added for the price premium?

I tried out the 800 series i believe with voice recognition and wasn't impressed, so the top line is out for me.

The 260W series will be HOT seeing the price point is fantastic for a basic unit.

I would like traffic, bluetooth added to the mix, so a mid model for me is probably the hottest.

Heck it might not be a Garmin at all, Wait for Black Friday and see what all the different manufactures have to offer at the best prices with the features you want. Be a wise shopper Garmin is not always the best for the money unless you get a discontinued model which is still supported well, as all discontinued units are.

Hottest Garmins

I vote for the 2x5 and 7x5 series. The Nuvi 200 and the ultra low priced ones should move well.

As far as other brands the newer and low priced TomToms should move well. The new Navigons should sell. The new Magellans may move well if they get good reviews, and the older ones are being priced aggressively. I think around Black Friday there will be big demand for the ultra low price off brand and name brand refurbished models selling for around $100 or less.

Christmas???

Let me get to Thanksgiving first. wink

I think the magic threshold would be less than $200 with good features

BEST UNIT

I own a garmin 660. It's a great unit for the money; mp3, blue tooth etc. Keep your eyes open for a unit like this on black friday, it could be selling in the $200 rangw.

The big push at this moment seems to be for the 750. It's on sale seemingly everywhere. I'm seeing pricing for 760's at $250 and under from many reliable vendors too. I heard a radio commercial pushing "any Garmin model with a 'T' in the name" yesterday so suspect that'll be the big factory push.

Considering the economy the big hit will be the biggest perceived bargain and, just a guess, the 600 series will be the big winner there.

Cheers

$400 in todays market, you would have to get your head checked

It always amazes me how many people recommend ECT!

$4 hundy today, then, 2 hundy next month. anyone spending that kind of money on a GPSr deserves that kind of shock, and you will get Shocked.
It's kind of like Electro Shock therapy (ECT) by Dr. Garmin.

msumy your a wise shopper waiting for the price to drop. the closer to Christmas the lower the prices will be. Never pay more than $200 for a GPSr in todays market, and while waiting stick with what you have till the price is where you want it,
once the price is where you want it then jump on it.
You might also look at other manufactured models as well.

There will be a price war between now and the New Year.
And no reason to see the Dr. for ECT.

I think Nuvi 765T should be a good value if you could get it under $500. It has almost everything you need in a GPS device e.g. Bluetooth, MP3, Lane Assist, free traffic alerts, FM transmitter, Garmin Locate etc. etc.

If you want mp3 capability like the 350, you'll have to go to an obsolete 650 model or the 750. If you don't care about mp3's then the 2xx series with text-to-speech would be similar, like the 255. If you don't care about traffic capability the 260 would do the trick. The 265t adds free traffic, a lot of the newer features and has Bluetooth.

The 350's are still being sold and still popular, but they do use older technology. On the good side, you can pick one up for a lot cheaper than they were a few years ago.

nuvi 350

Even though the Nuvi 350 is discontinued. It still offers a lot for the money in what was a loaded unit at one time. I have seen them online for $125.00
