Garmin Bluetooth Compatiblity List

How likely is your phone to work with Bluetooth on a Garmin unit if it's not on the compatibility list at their site?

I didn't get a Bluetooth Garmin because my phone wasn't on the list. I'm in a rural area and we don't have a major cell provider here.

Is there any chance that my phone would have worked even though it isn't on the list? Should I have bought one of the Bluetooth units and tested it?

Thanks for your help.

Bluetooth Problems

Like I said in my 10/27 post, there have been quite a few reports of bluetooth problems. So you just need to wait for Garmin to hopefully issue a fix.

Thanks, GadgetGuy, I'll check out some of the other brands of forums.

What do you think of the low volume levels....is something else wrong with this unit?

Bluetooth Software

I think most of the problems stem from the bluetooth software. Apparently in their infinite wisdom Garmin decided to use new bluetooth software in the 7x5 models. Hence the problems.

The only thing you can do at this point is contact Garmin and file a complaint. Hopefully they release an update soon.

re:Bluetooth Software

Thanks, GadgetGuy2008.

I'll check it out some more and try contacting Garmin.

Bluetooth

I have a Nuvi 785t and my bluetooth phone works great as long as the MSN Direct power cable isn`t connected.
I contacted Garmin and they are as puzzeled as I am.

Can't get my 660 to pair up with Treo 650

I'm quite familiar with bluetooth and after 30 minutes, couldn't get my treo 650 to pair up. At one point, saw the telephone icon in a restaurant listing. Clicked it, nothing. Icon then disappeared.

Has anyone else got a Treo 650 to work with a nuvi 660?

Compatibility

My boyfriend has a T-Mobile Blackberry Curve and a Nuvi 680. When it pairs, it pairs up perfectly, but sometimes the Nuvi won't find the phone and he'll get a "searching for bluetooth" message that keeps popping up every few minutes. I have a Verizon Chocolate (VX8550, not the same Chocolate that's listed on the Garmin website) and I have to manually pair it and import the phone book every time I want to use it. It doesn't try to reconnect when I walk away from the GPS like his does. And there are some calls that it simply will not put through so I have to switch from bluetooth back to phone. I haven't found the pattern yet.

VERY annoying. I'll be taking my GPS with me when I go to buy a new phone in February.

re: Compatibility

Thanks for the review, iambe.

That's a very good idea about taking the GPS when you go shopping for a phone. If it isn't on Garmin's list, I guess that is the only way to be sure.

I'm sorry you're having such trouble with your Chocolate. That would be a pain to have to pair it each time you want to use it.

I took a chance and ordered the 765T for my Alltel Samsung SCH-U520. All I had was voice dialing. After the update, I received all the features like the phonebook, logs, etc. I am fairly happy with it, but have lost all sound from the unit at times after I hang up, until I turn it off and restart it.

fixes

The firmware update from a couple of weeks ago has corrected problems I was having with bluetooth. It works great now with my 265wt & treo. I'd recommend it to everyone who hasn't updated.

SW updated?

After trying the 765T out further today, I'm having problems.

The volume seems a lot lower than the 755T I had, it's ok for navigation but very difficult to hear the party on the phone even at 100% volume without the FM transmitter being on.

Also after I hang up on the phone call, it turns off the volume completely. I can't make another phone call or hear the nav voice until I unplug the cord from the cigarette lighter, turn it off, plug it back in and fiddle with the cord and power switch to get it turned back on.

Are these things normal? Have any of you had similar problems?

Did you update the firmware to 2.50?

SW Updated?

Affirmative.

Verizon and Nuvi 660

I have a Samsung SCH-U540 - not listed on Garmin's site ... could never connect until I read to try connecting from Garmin to phone - then it worked and downloaded phone book ... no text messaging but everything else works great

My Sprint Touch works fine

My Sprint Touch works fine with my 760 and at least for the last two updates.

The voice quality sucks though, and texting doesn't work like on a Tomtom. Has anyone had any luck getting texts on their Garmin in the US?

Bluetooth and Garmin

My phone is compatible with my Garmin GPS; however, it is very finicky--even with a software update sad

Bluetooth pairing between 265WT and HTC Touchpro 2 Windows Phone

Although the phonebook from my old LG EnV2 didn't pair up with my NUVI all of the other phone functions worked and I stored all my key numbers in the NUVI itself so touch dialing from the NUVI wasa breeze.

I just got my new HTC TouchPro 2 Windows 6.1 Verizon Wireless phone and the first thing I did was pair it to the NUVI to see if it would work.

Yahoo! My entire phonebook quickly paired with my NUVI. "This is going to be great", I THOUGHT.

Then I tried to touch a number to dial. Nothing. In fact the NUVI lost all sound. It would still Navigate but no voice. I couldn't dial or voice dial from the NUVI either even though both the NUVI and the TP2 indicated a bluetooth link.

I checked my NUVI 265WT sound settings and mute was not checked. Why would the NUVI continue to function yet lose sound?

I tried to pair a second time without pairing the phonebook thinking the phonebook jammed the NUVI memory but no dice....exact same thing. Everything seems to be fine until you attempt to use any phone function on the NUVI then it mutes all sounds until you shut off and turn on again and disconnect the bluetooth.

Any ideas BESIDES GET A DIFFERENT PHONE?

My 775T BT icons

Personally, it shows the Phonebook, POI's, Dial, Call History, Call Home, and Voice Dial on my Motorola V360. However, my Samsung doesn't have Voice Dial.

Was a voice selected? Sometimes the TTS (or any) voice gets deselected.

everything including voice

everything including voice works fine until i link to phone and when i disconnect from phone it works again

Well it's pretty obvious then

Your phone is not compatible with the Nuvi Bluetooth profiles. Unless Garmin updates the profiles to where their chipset operates with your phone, you are out of luck.

it was possible that someone would say do this or do that or change this or that setting and it will work. it is only obvious that YOU don't know what to do....not that nobody does!

Yo!

If you set the Nuvi to "discover", and the cell to "find me", it should work if it has the FW for your phone.

If not, then, you're SOL as some are. Wait for the new FW.

You don't need to slag anyone here with the low-brow comments. Really.

I can understand your frustration; a new toy and it doesn't work as anticipated. Patience, Grasshopper! smile

Electronics are not forward compatible and not all devices are backward compatible. Buy a new toy and try to use it with an old device and it's a crap shoot. You were fortunate that some things worked, just the parts you wanted didn't.

Everything works on the

Everything works on the Droid except voice dialing (Droid doesn't allow BT VOice dialing at all, Bad programming by Goofle.)

Not all of my contacts transferred in the phonebook though. About 118 transferred. The other 20 were left off. I don't know if the memory can only hold that many and nobody else has answered my questions about it.

Not Listed

I am going to try and link my LG cell phone to my new Nuvi 265WT even though Garmin do not list it on their compatability list.
Fingers crossed, here goes...

Set up OK

Just finished setting up the bluetooth on the Nuvi.
My cell phone (LG 8100) was not listed on Garmins site but I put the phone into discover mode and it found the Nuvi and then asked for the Nuvi's code, (1234),inputed that and bingo, working bluetooth.
