POI Icons and Sounds

even though they're named exactly the same:

Chicago_White_Castles_V

Chicago_White_Castles_V.mp3

I don't get the voice alert on my Nuvi 750 - Any ideas?

.

Are you getting the default alert sound?

Did you SET an alert when you loaded the Custom POI?

Are you traveling on the road on which the POI is located and in the direction of the POI?

Is the POI location close to the road (meaning within 50 feet of the road)?

I assume your first file listed has a "csv" extension?

If not, how did POI loader no to associate the two files?

I do not see a ".csv" after the first file name.

It's important to understand how the proximity alerts work on Garmin auto units.

The alerts do NOT function as a radius, but rather they function as an "along the road/route" alert.

In order to get an alert several things must be true.

1. You must set an alert either through information in the file or via POI Loader being run in Manual Mode and an alert being manually entered.

2. Alerts must be enabled on your unit.

3. You must be traveling on the road on which the POI is located and traveling in the direction of the POI.

4. The POI must be sufficiently close to the road (typically 50 feet or less).

Can you explain what you mean by direction of travel? I thought if you put the long/lat in the center of the road, you'd get an alert going either direction on the road.

Yes, you will, but you must be going toward that spot. That's all I meant.

Thanks
