Garmin would not recognize custom poi's on sd card.

I bought a sd card today for my Garmin 350. I put my pictures and mp3's on the card and they work fine. I used the poi loader to put my custom poi's on the card also. My Garmin would not recognize my custom poi's. I copied them from the card to the Garmin poi subdirectory and they worked fine. Why do you think it would not recognize them on the sd card? Thanks

I had the same issue. I pulled the battery – reinstall the battery. Bingo!

I ended up on future updates/downloads just leaving the SD in the GPS and plug the USB in. Downloads remain trouble free.

Just remember to save a permanent file on your PC that you will be able to update or add/replace other POI files. When you download using the POI Loader again it will overwrite any POI files already on the Micro SD and Garmin’s internal memory. So be sure to keep an original POI file on your PC.

I keep two POI folders on my laptop. One for working/building the POI files then transfer the completed work over to the POI downloading Folder.

Helps me to keep my work separate and less confusing, I don’t lose near as many files as I use to. There’s a bit of a learning curve for me since I’ve only had my GPS for a couple weeks now.

Just exactly how do you pull

Just exactly how do you pull the battery out?

I got it to work. I had to

I got it to work. I had to create a Garmin subdirectory then a poi subdirectory on the sd card and put the files there. This is the file structure in the Nuvi. Then it worked fine. It asked me if I want to copy the file to the Nuvi, when I turned it on. I said no and it left it on the sd card and placed it with the other custom poi's.

Battery

I own a Nuvi 880 and the battery can be removed. Glad you got your files. I'm still on the learning curve...

Garmin 660 not recognizing SD card

I had the same problem on my 660. In the back of the 660 is a reset button. I reset the GPS and on reboot the card was recognized.

Re: not recognizing SD card

Seems common. Powering down then back seems to cure the "not recognizing SD card" issue. Battery can't be removed? Would leaving the unit on and running the battery down give the same result when reconnected to a power source?
