Update i5 firmware via SD card (no usb)

Not sure if this is possible, but I have been all over the web and not finding a whole lot out there. Also, it seems as though there were a lot of knowledgeable folks here, I could get a quick yay or nay on this option.

I love the i5; it does a great job everywhere I have taken it in the States, providing as much detail as I could ever use. The one complaint I have is the USB jack was not soldered on very well, and is actually lodged in the housing itself. Not a real problem (batteries are easy enough to deal with), except I have no idea how to update the firmware. I grabbed a micro SD card thinking that I could drop the software there, and then have it reload on the unit itself, somehow... but that does not seem to be a common task.

Any thooughts on how I can make this happen? I find it hard to believe with the amount of data transferring going on these days that I am totally out of luck. I don't think the repair costs would justify themselves, but I don't want to have to buy another unit just yet.

I appreciate all comments.

Thanks
