MP3's on Nuvi 760

Could someone please tell me how to place MP3's on my Garmin. Thank you.

.

First be sure that the songs are actually MP3 format and not some other format like WMA, AAC, M4P. Those formats are not compatible with the nuvi. (Don't assume that just because the songs play on your computer that they are actually MP3 format.)

Second, be sure that they don't have any license restrictions such as DRMs on songs purchased through iTunes.

Then, open the folder where your songs are on your computer.

Then, open a file browser window on your computer with your SD card open (you will want to get an SD card for your music if you haven't already). Create a folder on the card for your songs.

Then, copy and paste the songs onto the card the same as you would copy any file.

It is much easier than you may think. Create a folder and copy them to it. It will automatically scan and load them into your player menu.

Dont expect an ipod....

It's not an iPod by any means, but better than nothing.

Aero is right -- the mp3 player is much better than any of my 3 iPods for use in the car. The iPod won't stop playing my book when a navigation instruction comes up, so I end up not hearing either one.

I connected the audio out to my head unit and it works great. MP3's sound outstanding and I never have to worry about hearing directions.. even at freeway speeds with the windows down.

Might be worth looking into if you listen to a lot of music.

I've only messed around with the media player once. Discovered songs purchased through iTunes would not play. I was able to get a podcast that I downloaded through iTunes to work though.

.

Amazon DRM free

I bet music purchased through Amazon.com would play as they're DRM free.

I also listen to podcasts, but on my Nuvi 350. I keep a bunch of SD cards in various sizes 512MB - 2GB queued up with all the latest shows.

Make your own

It's easy to rip your own CD's to MP3's and then copy them to an SD card. Only takes a few minutes per CD. No special software needed, Windows Media Player will do nicely. I ripped and copied about 15-20 CD's in around an hour or so. And you don't have any DRM protection to deal with.
