Garmin permanent style mount suggestion for Nuvi's

Below is a link to a photo montage I took of the Garmin Model # 010-10969-00 mount that I installed in my car. It is almost invisible when the cradle is not attached to it, it is very stable, easily viewed by driver, allows easy access to the screen for both driver and passenger and it makes the GPS less obvious to thieves.

I tried the windshield mount, beanbag mount and AC vent mount but all had problems. This mount only costs $5 from Garmin and if you have a location that will allow a permanent mount I would highly endorse this one.

It was easy, quick and inexpensive to install. My favorite combination. smile

I ordered directly from the Garmin site for only $5.

Clean installation

How does the base mount? Does it have screws through the dash panel, Velcro, or glue? Just wondering how permanent "permanent" is smile Didn't find much detail about the mounting with a quick Google. Thanks.

This is a link to photos of the back and side of the mount, it is about 2" x 1 3/4" overall size.

Looks like it might work on some vehicles. Still the question is unanswered How does it mount to the dash the picture looks like it may take screws to hold it to the days if so not a good Idea for me. Question how did you monunt the bracket to your dash?

Now that is way too serious for me!

Wow I would have to say that's plenty permanent, If you sell the car I hope you sell it with your Garmin, otherwise the dash is kinda butchered.I guess you could paste a picture of George Bush over the holes or something!!

I used screws from the backside

See the post just above yours for more mount photos. I used screws from the backside after removing the panel. The whole install took less than 1/2 hour

Good excuse to buy a new model later.

I probably would include it and that would give me a good excuse to buy a newer model.

The panel I choose to mount to is small and easily replaced after removing just 2 screws.

Actually there are devices now available that use the same ball size that allow mounting of Cell phone holders, Sat radios, ipods, etc. so it could be used for other things than just the GPS. Actually with no cradle mounted you really do not hardly notice it.

Thanks for extra pics

they answered all my questions.

Kuda...

http://www.kudausa.com/

The Kuda mounts work really well, using spring steel tabs to slide between pieces of the dash to hold the mount in place. Mine took under two minutes to install, longer to snake the cable through the dash.

Removal is just as quick. Pictures and installation instructions available on their website.

Not cheap! But they match the interior of the car very nicely.

Can you provide a link to Garmin where you ordered this mount?

PanaVise

http://www.panavise.com/f/comm/index.html has cell phone mounts, that are metal that go under the trim of your dash. Very professional. I have been looking for a mount for my gps, and this one will work great.

Thanks.

I had seen it originally as the mount that is used with the VIB10 and VIB11 vehicle integration box kit that was one of the listed accessories for my 760. Just looked up the part number in the "Shop" section of the Garmin site.
