Backup of SD Card

Does anyone know how to back the Garmin Mobile XT SD Card? I have tried to copy the card, but it will not work in my phone when I use it. My reason for wanting a copy is because the card often pops out of my phone and on one occasion I lost the card. Fortunately I found it. It would be good to have a copy of the original SD card to use. This way I could put the original SD card in a safe place in the event that it is needed.

You could always use a third-party card reader (assuming the card isn't copyright protected against copying).

I'm thinking that it's not possible to copy the card.

Check this out from Garmin's website.

Note: Due to proprietary and security reasons, it is not possible to transfer your Garmin Mobile XT data to a larger card.

all sd cards have a serial

all sd cards have a serial number
that number is embedded in the software

Do a search

First off, I don't condone copyright infringement, but I do understand your interest in backing up for your 'peace of mind'.

Some hacker will find a work around, if they haven't already. Do a search with Google and the other search engines. A quick search showed one forum which appeared to have had a link to one such website; but it was removed and replace with "read our posting rules".

DVD's couldn't be 'backed up' until someone came up with the 'Decrypter' program; I suspect the same will be (or is) true in this case.

With some Garmin preloaded cards, you can copy the data to your computer as a backup and then you will be able to copy the data back to the SAME card, but not to a different one.
