Understanding the POI file in CSV format

Hi, I have a couple of questions to ask.

1) What do first two columns mean in a POI file in CSV format?

Column 1 -87.634356
Column 2 41.910481
Column 3 Best New Bakery: Twisted Sister Bakery
Column 4 1543 N. Wells Street 312 932 1128

2) If I want to complie my own list of addresses (for example add I found on google maps, yahoo maps, mapquest). How do I make my own CSV file?

Thanks for the assistance.

I always use following format to make .csv files

-longitude,latitude,"Name of location","address or info on location"

Example:

-71.34545,42.03967,"CRACKER BARREL","1048 South Street, Suite 40 Wrentham MA 02093-1537 (508) 384-0477 I-495, Exit# 15"

I use Notepad on the PC or Text Edit on my Mac

No Problems

Not really. We got a little wind and rain the past 2 days from the outer bands when Gustov passed by, but nothing serious. The sun is peaking out today.

We are more worried about my wife's sister and her husband who decided to stay. They moved to another house in Kenner (west of downtown NO) near the airport, that didn't flood during Katrina.

This was the quickest way I've found so far to make csv files.

http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/download.sourceforge.net/...

I made a file with over 200 points in less than 10min. I downloaded Google Earth and KMLCSV Converter and away I went.

'POI Loader' Help

'POI Loader' Help section has info on what is allowed for Garmin csv format. It also has good info on setting alerts.
