Proximity Points

Assuming it's not a gpx file... then it should go on if you are withing the range set...

edit: Hmmm as MM said below you do have to enable them when you install them, my first read I thought that was what you meant when you said "if they are turned on" My error...

Keep in mind that regular POIs do not alert by default. You must SET an alert if you want to be alerts.

It's also important to understand how the proximity alerts work on Garmin auto units.

The alerts do NOT function as a radius, but rather they function as an "along the road/route" alert.

In order to get an alert several things must be true.

1. You must set an alert either through information in the file or via POI Loader being run in Manual Mode and an alert being manually entered.

2. Alerts must be enabled on your unit.

3. You must be traveling on the road on which the POI is located and traveling in the direction of the POI.

4. The POI must be sufficiently close to the road (typically 50 feet or less).

So then if I have the Long and Lat to far away from the road which I think I do the alert will not work?

I generally set them at the driveway of the address if possible...

When you load the poi use manual mode instead of express mode, follow the instructions, if you don't want to set and alert click next, not ignore or you will not load that poi....

Went out this morning and tried my new settings for the Long and Lat, and everything is working now. My problem was that the settings where to far away from the road.
