Garmin nuvi 660w Maps Question

Same with me. Dont know how often the maps are udated.

I wasn't sure if there were maps coming in the pipeline. I wish there was a way I could update my maps to add these roads manually. Thanks for the reply.

Garmins only releases annual updates to the US maps. (Well, it's actually NavTeq that makes the maps for Garmin, but you get the idea.) Do to the fact that new roads take quite a while to show up on the updates, most people seem to only update their maps every two years or so.

If you want the ability to update maps yourself, you may want to look at TomTom.

I have a Nuvi 660, what's different about a 660w?

The 660 was released as widescreen where other nuvis like the 200 were released in two different versions... a Nuvi 200 and a widescreen version Nuvi 200W.

I think think the 660 user in the above posts has confused these facts.

I think so too.. just looked to double check myself and there is no 660W

Have you checked the level of map detail?

Wrench | Map | Map Detail

Set the level to Most and see if that helps. Just a thought.

Sorry everybody.... I made a "type-o". You are correct, I have a 260W not a 660W.

Ah. Thanks that clears up the 660W mystery or I should type lack there of.

The current map set for North America is NT 2009. However, depending on where you live, the maps could easily be a year or two old. Here in the DC area, exit ramps on I495 seem to change weekly... so even the NT 2009 update doesn't have all the changes.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to wait until the next release to see what roads are added out here in Mississippi.
