Escort 9500ix Radar Detector

This radar detector has a built in gps that has a red light/speed camera database. The database can be updated through usb on the computer. I believe the database is maintained by escort.

Too Pricey!

If the price was a less it would be on my wind screen. Escort makes the best detectors in the business (in my opinion).

I agree

If the price was down a bit, I would have one or two. No way I am spending that much for a radar detector (at this time).

Escort, BEL, V1 = good

@thebug
I have researched a lot about radar detectors. Beltronics and Escort are the same company now. Besides them Valentine One (which is what I have) makes an excellent product. These are the only two companies I would ever use or recommend. Anything else is basically worthless.

P.S. Best value is BEL v940 on amazon.

directions

Does it offer directions?

I would rather go for a used

I would rather go for a used V1 and a regular GPS obviously being a Whistler Pro-78 user this is way above my class but I have heard problems with the escorts lockout feature which apparently can lock out Police radar to be honest though its only a few $100 less than Lidar Jammers thats probably a better investment for the future.

no directions

No directions. GPS is to: mark false alarms, red light and speed cameras, and to tell how fast you are going.

"TrueLock"

Lockout feature can and will lock out police radar if it is the same band and frequency and is in the same 1/4 to 1/2 mile radius as the false. The detector does visually display a warning when it is locking out a (hopefully) false. So you just have to be careful, smart, and know how to use it. It does have its upside and downside.

There is a good article on http://www.radardetector.net/forums/ that tells about it but I can't get the site to load at the moment but its under "Escort".

Lockout a feature?

In the St. Louis area, there are several areas with false signals (road signs and shops close to the highway), where I have recently detected multiple signals on my V1 (which shows direction and number of signals). And in more than one you can see the troopers running a trap. Not sure this is a feature I would want to use.

What does one of these cost

Where is the cheapest place to get one

to expencive

I just wish they were cheaper. maybe closer to $300

:)

This is what makes the V1 the best IMHO. The "bogey counter" lets you know when there are more than one source of radar in the area. Plus the arrows tell you, in a general sense, where the radar sources are.

The proper Combination

I have several GPSr's a V1 and a Lidar Scrambler.
A great combination. Not that I am a speeder, because I'm not, but when the foot gets heavy like lead your protected.

There is another neat feature to this unit

I just talked to a friend in NY that has one and the 9500ix unit will also interface with their laser shifting product and just loves it. The 2 generation shifter appears to work quite well and if you buy both units you get an intergrated red light speed camera detector, radar/laser detector and a laser shifter - all hooked together with one display. While I like the idea of less stuff in the car - the set up is pricy, over a grand.

A GPS and V1 will work just find for me.

That is pretty impressive.

That is pretty impressive. Being able to integrate it with a laser shifter is a major step forward.
