New with a Nuvi 200

I recently got a Nuvi 200 last week. I used it in New Jersey area and now in Toronto, Canada. We have the 401 highway (and some other highways) were there are Express lanes and Collector lanes. I know I have chosen Faster route as the navigation option. However, I find that the Nuvi always takes me through the Collector lanes. In theory it should take me to the Express lanes until I do need to go on the Collectors to exit the highway. Has anyone experienced this? Anything that can be done to correct?

We must remember that the GPS is just a tool. Use your own common sense and the world is a better place for it. smile
Especially when you already know the route.

nuvi 200

I have found that you have to experiment with the filters to get the most out of your nuvi. I just bought a 270 and have been directed using routes that usually are what I would have used. Sometimes though, it seems the unit's maps don't even contain the same streets in its files. I am confident that it will get me to where I need to go though. To me, that's what's most important...Sometimes it nice to take the scenic route!

collector or not

Sounds like your east of the airport. I wouldn't worry to much about seconds gained or lost on collector lanes. I'd be more concerned about the GPS trying to take me across the route 81 border crossing instead of my preferred Niagra Falls border crossing.

It is made that way.

One of the Garmin features is to provide a detour in case of a traffic jam due to an accident. In order to get you off the highway quickly, if need be, the Garmin will always advise you to travel in the collector lane. If you know there will be no traffic tie up in the express lane by all means use it. As long as you are heading in the right direction Garmin doesn't mind.
