POI Loader doesn't "see" my GPS device

I just downloaded and installed POI Loader to my Apple MacBook. I have attached my Garmin nuvi 750 via its included USB cable. Both the POI Loader program and the Garmin icon show up on my desktop, yet the program doesn't register the presence of the Garmin device (the window wherein you select the device to load the POI onto is blank, and clicking on "Find Device" does nothing).
What can I do to troubleshoot?

Hi Andrea, This should

Hi Andrea,

This should work:

1. Make sure the GPS is turned off and connect it via the USB cable that it came with to your MacBook.
2. Turn on the GPS, wait for about 30 seconds for it to fully boot up.
3. Start POI Loader
4. On the opening screen of POI Loader click "Continue" and you should see the GPS connected. If you do not click "Find Device" and your MacBook should find it.
5. Once you see it connected then you can begin downloading POI's from your MacBook to your GPS.

Nuvi 360, OS X Lion 10.7

.

Andrea,
Make sure you are using the beta version of Mac POI Loader. It is available at:

Usually, if a USB device isn't seen, turning it off and back on or unplugging and re-plugging the USB cable will solve it. I usually plug in the cable AFTER I have booted the GPS. If you are using the Garmin cable, you should see the image of a computer show up on the GPS screen as it goes into mass-storage-device mode.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

finding gps device

My computer acts the same as yours. Can't find the gps device. I hit cancel and the device shows as found?
