Garmin's discontinued Nüvi's and other models...

They might even get cheaper.

Well how about that, I bought the Nuvi 680. Apparently it has not been discontinued. Seems odd that Garmin would discontinue all but the 680 in the 600 series. On the bright side, the price will drop even further for the discontinued models.

Yeah, for someone who's not a feature hound and doesn't really care about bluetooth, mp3 player etc (me), maybe I'll be able to grab one of the less feature laden ones for cheaper now.

I wonder when Amazon will adjust their prices?

This is more than likely due to some contractual agreement with Microsoft's MSN Direct service.

I worry that "dicontinue" means stop supporting and producing upgrades (ie firmware)

They usually go hand in hand,unfortunately... but some laws state that a company must continue to service items the sold for a reasonable period of time from the date of sale. Software or firmware updates are not included....just repair, replacement parts and service.

I would not worry about continued support.

I have a IQUE3600 that was discontinued about 2.5 years ago. After it was discontinued They continued to build UPDATES for a little over a year. I received 2 generic updates and a couple of other updates for some of the added features. (These were Garmin updates and added features.)

I see no problem at all from Garmin.
