SD card compatibility with Nuvi 660

I just bought a 660 and SanDisk 1GB SD card.When I try to transfer MP3's or Audibel books to the SD card, my computer says the SD card needs to be formatted. When I try to format it through the 660, it says it cannot.

Exchanged the card for a new one (suggested by SanDisk), with the same results. Anyone experience this or have any ideas?

This may be obvious, but is the slide switch set to locked? Other than that, try formatting the card in a digital camera or a different computer. Make sure your drivers for your card reader are up to date.

SD cards

I has the same problem with a sandisk for my phone and the same got answer from sandisk. I was trying to look at card with windows xp, tried the other pc in the house with vista and everything was there on the card and the card worked just fine. Do not know why.

SanDIsk

I have a SanDisk 4GB SDHC in my 660 and have had no trouble formatting it or writing to it from my WinXP PC.

Even I thought about the slide switch, which was unlocked! Your thought about formatting in a digital camera was great. Many thanks, as I am now up and running.

Apparently my XP was the culprit.

i use a 4 gb sdhc disk to and no problems
