New software update out for StreetPilot c340.I just updated to 6.0 short time ago.Here is the info.

Improve handling of the situation where overlapping map data is present on the device.
Fixed issue where fleet management interface messages can get stuck in the outbox

Brilliant, is there any way I can backup my stored locations and settings, or are they gone with the update?

Favorites, custom POIs & settings remained the same
on both units

You can copy your favorites
You can copy your favorites over by copying the file Garmin/gpx/current.gpx to your PC then after the update copy that file back to your GPSr.
Also you can use MapSource or EasyGPS to import/export your favorites. I like to use MapSource since the map and routing is the same as my Nuvi and it's a much bigger screen.
I know of no way to save the settings.
