I agree. Along with not getting sick leave, holiday time, vacation days. The only day of the week that I know is Sunday and then only because the comics in the newspaper are in color.

Being over the hill is not so bad, starting the climb back up is whats tough.

This day, 24 years ago, I married my best friend who is now the mother of my three wonderful children...I have been blessed...indeed... I have been blessed.

I'm taking my next to yougest to see 'Dark Knight' tomorrow... After I spoil him all day, I can take him back to my daughter.... The youngest is to young for movies like that...

After my eventful weekend, I sure needed them.

The neighbor's 9mm went off early Saturday morning as I slept, shot through the wall into my bedroom, grazed my head, punched its way into the living room above the couch where my daughter's head was just a minute earlier, ricochetted against the porch door, and stopped in my living room floor.

I woke up to a firecracker-like sound and the tickle of the blood from my forehead.

The police detectives, ER doctors and nurses told me they had never seen a patient with a gunshot wound to the head walk out with only a scratch.

*whew*

And I'm alive by an inch of bullet trajectory.

And I failed to get out.

And I'm told I'm not done yet.

About a three-inch-long scalp.

I have this office sign given to me by a coworker.

And I crack jokes about this weekend because I've never known to be so close to death and lived through with only a minor surface injury.

I have a Guardian Angel.

My question would have something to do with what the blazes was going on with the neigbors' gun to make it go off? (are they alright as well?)

Sparky's experiment with the Wind Turbine Car was somewhat successful. But he found out that having to dismantle and re-assemble it every time he went under an overpass took too long and included too much work, he gave up on the idea. So he just went back to riding his bike.

I have been following Hurricanes on the internet, tracking. chat room participant etc since Hugo hit SC and I think the NHC has improved so much in their forecasting in the past 4-5 years.
They can't make it change course but they will give you good information.

The problem with Sparky riding his bike is a simple one, if he rides to long out in the sun, the only thing going to be green is Sparky (Meat + Sun = Green).

After reading your story, I think CheryMASS 3rd line is more appropriately referencing your neighbor!! Man ... I'd want to kill my neighbor if he shot me!!!

happy hump day! Some much needed rain finally fell on my neck of the woods this morning... I noticed several neighbors' lawns are starting to brown

What's that? Haven't seen or felt any in quite some time.

Wonderful, I'm married now for 36 years with 3 kids and now 4 grandkids, who make my day every time I see them, which is often.

I love being retired, greatest thing in the world.

Give us the follow-up details. Why did the neighbor's gun discharge? Accident? Drunk? Intruder? Inquiring minds want to know!

I don't know the neighbor too well, and I'm not sure why he had the loaded gun in his hand. But he was sober and was very shaken up. More so than I was.

Investigation is ongoing, and I'll know more when I get a copy of the police report for insurance purposes.

In the meantime, the wound is healing nicely, and I'm not that worse off. And no, I'm not considering any civil suit, as long as all the damages and medical expenses are covered, which he has pledged. My good fortune is everyone else's good fortune, as some might say.

Certainly it could've been an involuntary manslaughter, and he could've faced felony charges as well as heavy civil charges. It didn't, so he isn't.

Of course, if he fails to cover the medical cost....

Dolly Dumped a lot of rain here in Houston but not near as much as South Texas. We sure needed it here in Houston though.

on the 31st of July. Going to Biloxi, MS and spend some of my kids inheritance. Trying my best to make it to 50. After that, who knows.
