Sox.exe

Will someone tell me where to place the file, Sox.exe?

I have downloaded it and extracted it from the .zip file. I placed it in several different places on my PC where Garmin files are located, but when I use the Garmin POI loader to install my pois a message comes back telling me that the sox.exe file cannot be located.

What am I not doing?

Thanks.

Put it in the same folder as POI Loader.

Yes, I did what you suggest.

Yes, I did what you suggest. No success. Am I supposed to put all of the files that came with the .zip download into the POILoader folder? I just placed the sox.exe file there. Any more thought to share with me? Thanks.

Try it

I ended up just putting all of them in the folder. And it worked.

This is getting frustrating.

This is getting frustrating. Here is my latest thought: I may have downloaded the wrong Sox file. The one I downloaded is: sox-14.0.1.zip.

The one I did not download is: sox-14.0.1-cygwin.zip

The latter file, which I did not download, has many .dll files. The one I did download does not hane any .dll files.

My Garmin is Nuvi 260W. My POILoader is the latest from Garmin: version 2.5.

Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Do not use sox-14.0.1-cygwin.zip. sox-14.0.1.zip is the one you need. Only the sox.exe file needs to be unzipped into the POI Loader directory.

I have had success using sox 14.0.1 and POILoader 2.5.2, which is the current version.

In your post you refer to version 2.5 of POI Loader, which does not exist. There are only the 2.5.1 and 2.5.2 releases.

And can you please double-check that sox.exe is in the POI Loader directory? If you run it from a command line without parameters, it will display the version in text starting with:

C:\ cd POI-Loader-dir
C:\POI-Loader-dir sox
sox: SoX v14.0.1

Failed: Not enough input filenames specified

WAAsup is correct (you're running Windows, right?) sox-14.0.1.zip is the one you need to download. Then extract just the sox.exe file and place it in the same directory with POILoader V2.5.2. I'm running Windows Vista and installed POILoader in the default location, which on my system is C:\Program Files\Garmin.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for this. I bought

Thanks for this. I bought the wife a Nuvi 205T so now I can nag her about the speed when I'm not in the car! She will love that!!!
