Setting up special Points of interest files??

I'm not sure if your 760 works the same as my 660, but the categories come from the folder structure on your PC when you run POI Loader.

On my WinXP PC, I have set up a main folder called POIs. This is the folder I point to when I run POI Loader. In your example, you could set up a sub folder like this:

POIs
>>My Race Tracks

Then, put your race track POI file in the My Race Tracks sub folder and run POI Loader. Remember to point POI Loader to the main POIs folder.

Next, when I disconnect my 660 from the PC and let it start up, I press Where To?, Extras, Custom POIs and there you would see the My Race Track category. Press on that and you will see the individual tracks listed, sorted starting with the nearest one to your current location.

What I can't remember because its been too long, is if it works this way with only one sub folder. I think I remember that with only one sub folder with a POI file in it, the 660 didn't display the category under Custom POIs. If it doesn't work, try adding a second sub folder with a POI file in it, like the Rest Area Combined file, as a test.

EDIT: Yup, my memory was correct, I just tried it. If I only have one sub folder with a POI file in it under my main POIs folder, then, when I press Custom POIs it does NOT show the sub folder name next. It just starts the list of locations in that one file.

So, in order for it to work, there has to be at least 2 sub folders with a POI file in each one when you run POI Loader.

Thanks for the turoial. It was working fine, but what i wasn't doing was the extras- -> custom POIS. That was the missing step.
