new speeding fines :)

I guess that is

what "and costs" means! I wondered about that when I watched "Traffic Court" on local TV in the 1960's!

Our Favorite Little Town

We have a town that has about 800ft of interstate, and no exit within the town.

Frequently, they have officers lurking for unsuspecting motorists. evil The joke is they have 100 residents and 42 of them are police officers. mrgreen

Rumor has it that speeding ticket will cost you $100/mile over speed limit up to 15 over. After that it goes to $500/mile over. So, 20mph over will cost $4000. Allegedly, they have the highest appeal rate in the state. Construction zone doubling is beyond comprehension. shock

Their other antics include putting a "Stop here on red" sign 1500ft from and more than one block away from the stop light. People passing the sign are charged with running a red light. This one went to the supreme court of the state. The town lost. smile

The only time I didn't see a police officer was returning from a business trip. My Windstar died in our little town at 3 am. mad

Maybe we all should have a special POI and icon for it!

Wow!

A friend of mine just got a ticket for doing 21mph over the limit and the ticket was over $400. I thought that was horribly high, but in perspective, I guess not.

I'll share this story for sure to brighten her day!

Thanks for the post.

Only about 1/4 mile of I-71 passes through Lindale and there are no exits/ entrance Ramps located within Lindale limits. Police very frequently set up a speed trap on that section of highway they park under the middle bridge of three bridges in a row, right after you pass west 65th on ramp. They are in shadows most of the time. They have the highest costs(fines) in Cleveland Metro!

Vascar

Dear Bob,

That sneaky Vascar should not be allowed. My Valentine One cannot help me with that.

I had not heard about Vascar before reading your post. Thank you for contributing to my education.

Courts should rule that the policeman's thumb on the stopwatch is akin to the butcher's thumb on the scale.

No thumbs on scales...

The vascar units are great for catching the Valentine One units.... It you want to play you have to be willing to pay too. I am not saying I agree with the small towns out to just make money off people passing through. I only really do my enforcement on major expressways and in high accident prone areas.

And I have found I can get people with my Lidar and never set the radar detectors including the valentine one off.

Yes Lindale is the happy little town to which I refer

dog poo guessed the town correctly. I don't wish to test the accuracy of fine calculation. Nor do I want them to find me someday dis-sing their town.

I have two POIs set up at 60mph. One East and one West of this fine metropolis.

800ft is close to a quarter mile. Eastbound it's longer than Westbound because of the angles cut by the city limits.

Yes they do hide in the shadows. Sometimes I think they shoot out the street lights to create them. wink I've never seen them do the shooting though.

I'd hate to think what icon one might use. A special fine (fouled up, insecure, neurotic and egotistical) one would be needed.

Speed Trap POI

Sounds like these coordindates should be submitted for the Speed Trap POI so everyone has it and not a special POI that most people won't download.

In Case You Were Looking For This Town

Because I travel in Ohio, I wanted to find this town on the map. I discovered that there is a Lindale and a Linndale in Ohio.

The subject of this discussion is Linndale with 2 n's. Lindale with 1 n is SE of Cincinatti.

The coordinates were helpful.

Thanks, Bill

Wow - This is Uncanny!

I lived in Brooklyn (a mile and a half or so away from Linndale) near Pearl and Memphis for about a year, about twenty years ago. I used to go through there and see police cars then. Must be inflation at work. wink

And now, back to your regularly scheduled forum - already in progress . . .

Plain Dealer (Cleveland) article about Linndale Mayor's Court

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that little Linndale with 117 residents is rated as No 7 in Ohio in terms of number of speeding tickets, and No 1 in terms of Per Capita number of speeding tickets (They were about 10 times the number 2 rate).

Slow down in Linndale!
