Does anyone know how to increase the 10,000 track point limit in most Garmins? My nuvi 750 has more than enough memory, but starts removing "bread crumbs" when it gets to 10,000 points.
Thanks for the help!

The 'other' Track log
Does anyone know how to increase the 10,000 track point limit in most Garmins?
Apparently, there are two independent tracklogs on the 7xx series. One of these records (ultimately) to CURRENT.GPX and is also the one that the unit can show. It overwrites @ 10000 points.
The other one is limited only by available space and records to a date-based subdirectory of \Garmin\Logs. This log is:
Garmin have removed the means to ENABLE this function in the latest versions of the firmware, but not the function itself. Therefore, if you revert to firmware 2.6, enable the function and then re-install 3.0, it continues to work. Reverting to earlier firmware deletes all your user settings and imported routes (so backup required!).
To enable the function, press and hold the 'speedometer' on the trip screen, then press NEXT to reach the requisite menu.
Every time you power on the Nüvi, there is a full-screen message that says "Recording new track log" and a transparent "Stop" button shows on the map. If you press "Stop", you will have to repeat the firmware download to restart it

My nuvi 760 allows the trip log to be displayed on the map in real time. I assume that the other 7xx-series models do as well.
You can display the trip log via Tools > Settings > Map > Trip Log > Show
they do apear live, in real
they do apear live, in real time, but they also disapear after 10,000.. I noticed this when i went away and used it on vacation. When I came back my route to work was erased, then i figured its only the last 10,000 points.
I was very disapointed with this as i hoped to mark every street in my neihborhood, figured it would look cool
Nuvi limit is 10,000 - MapSource is not limited

This may not help you in what you want to do, but you can upload the tracks into Mapsource and MapSource does not have the 10,000 track limit. So if you periodically upload your tracks and combine them with the tracks from your previous upload, MapSource will save and display them, even if your Nuvi will not. I don't know if MapSource has a limit but if it does, it's over 10,000.
Sorry for bringing this old
Sorry for bringing this old thread back. Once I upload my tracks to Mapsource, is there any way to copy them back to my Nuvi 750 and display them so I can follow my previous tracks? I can liv with only 10K tracks, but I was hoping I could display them again and follow the same track. So far, once I powercycle my GPS, I am unable to display a saved track.
@alvini
TracBack (Garmin-speak) is not available on any nuvi with the exception of the 5xx all-in-one series. TracBack allows you to follow previously recorded tracks on the GPS.
You also cannot transfer saved tracks from MapSource back into the nuvi...it's a one-way transfer only from the nuvi to MapSource.

What GPS Does TracBack Best
That's dissappointing, but atleast I can quit trying to get it to work. What GPS unit on the marked does this TracBack feature the best? What other units should I look at?
