Nuvi 200W + 2M repeaters across the USA

I've just loaded the 2M Repeater USA list into my Nuvi via POI Loader.

I ran into an issue where the software could not "find" my device. Strange because the Garmin updater had no problem at all. I simply created a folder called POI on the SD card and loaded them there.

When I go into "Extras" I see maybe about 60 entries but I believe there are really 6000 entries. The gpi file is 400k. Is there a reason I only see ones related to my current location? Maybe the GPS will only display so many within a radius.

Bear with me. This is the first time I've used one of these devices.

Thanks,
Chris

Welcome

hey Chris,
50 seen locations is the limitation of the unit. All your locations are there but will only show the 50 closest to your physical location.

If you tell your GPS to

If you tell your GPS to search "Near" and pick "A Different City" it will give you a different list of locations in or near that city.

50

Ya, keep in mind that when the GPS pulls up the 50 closest, it is quickly calculating what the 50 closest are and their distance (as the bird flies I believe) away from your current location. If the GPS was to pull up THOUSANDS of entries in a POI, the time it would take to calculate their distances, sort them by nearest to furthest, etc. would greatly slow down the operation of the unit.

As already pointed out, you can change the "Near" setting to pick any location you want in order to see the list for around that area.

Cheers,
PT
