Looking 4 a new Nuvi. Which one?

Hey I'm going to sell my Nuvi 350 soon and I'm looking for a unit to replace it. My question is that I like extra features on the 700s series, however, since the unit itself doesn't have a flip-up antenna, should I go with the 600s series instead? The 350 Nuvi came with all the accessories like: case, usb charger ...etc. Will the 600s series and 700s series also include them?

In terms of accuracy, I found that the 660 and 680, which I once owned, have better accuracy than the 760, which I currently own.

The 6xx will include leather case and AC charger but the 7xx package will not include them. Other accessories will be the same in both packages.

[Edit]
But, I have read in this forum that Garmin is considering to stop producing new 6xx units. Moreover, some member of this forum could not get the free map update only because of that reason. You can check the "2009 map update thread" for more light on this issue.

The 600 and 700 series are both good

I have the Nuvi 670 which is the same as the 660 but with the additional preloaded European maps. My friend has both the 660 and 760, and he likes them both, however the 760 better because it has msn capability. What it comes down to is feachers, price, and the fact that the 700 series is thinner than the 600s. Also battery life is 7hrs with the 600's and 5 hrs with the 700s. Go to Garmins website and click on the compare page and see the differences, and pick out what you want. Costco has good prices right now, also Amazon.com which is where I bought mine. (directly from Amazon, not one of the stores advertiseing on their site)
Good Luck! smile

With the 700s nuvi series,

With the 700s nuvi series, the GPS will alway be on right? One of the reason I like the flip-up antenna is because you can turn it off by flip the antenna down

GPS Off

In the 700 series, you can go to the tools menu and select Settings>System>gps simulator>on which turns off the gps.

There is an on/off switch

Plugged into the cigarette lighter, the 7xx can be turned off (or turned to off w/battery charger mode) with the slide switch on top.

Interesting - one of things I really don't like about the 3xx series, is that feature. I took my 310 apart and removed the magnet, to stop it doing that smile

Dumped 660

I dumped my 660 and went for a 760.

760 labells street names on the map instead of every single park, smaller size but same screen size, internal antenna. Seems to have a nicer or more refinded screen and text than the 660. Zoom levels seem to work a little better - not as much clutter if set to more or most as you zoom out, has routing and multiple destination suppport, you can download custom routes from Mapsource. I find the accurracy of both the 660 and 760 the same in my vehicle. 760 has a map scale on the main map screen while 660 does not. Finally, bluetooth is working better on my 760 than it did on my 660.

Do you experience any accuracy loss with the antenna down? I don't mind it up when it is mounted but walking around holding it it gets to be an annoyance when it's up.
