How do you put your antennas up? I used to always kept it straight up, until I read review from gpsmagazine that Garmin says that is should be parallel to the earth's surface.

It didn't seem to make a difference, but when it was parallel it fit on my dash better, when I used the external mount it was usually perpendicular.

Parallel To The Ground
Page 3 of my Nuvi 660 manual says to operate the unit with the antenna "parallel to the ground." That's the way I've always operated it.

I notice in the review that
They only show the Windshield Mount, which is illegal in some states, California being one such state. I have never been stopped for having my unit attached to my windshield but if you were stopped for something else they might nail you for that also...

I can't seem to find the information in my manual that says the antenna should be 90 degrees. I'm using a Nuvi 350.

I just looked at the online manual for the 350 and it does not specifically say "parallel to the ground" although, I would think that it would have the same requirement.
