State Highways and Road numbers

Is there a hard and fast rule for entering road numbers in the Nuvi 7xx series? I've got a Nuvi 750 and it seems that everytime I need to enter a state road number or one of our local county road addresses, I fight it by entering it several times before I figure out the "correct" format. For example, Say I want to enter 500 State Road 261. For the street name do I enter State Road, St Rd, SR, or what?

Local county roads are even more confusing. The address format is 1234W County Road 500N. What is the "correct" format for entering this? I don't enter addresses like this often enough to remember the corect format from one time to the next. I usually do ultimately figure it out, but it's never without a fight!

Thanks!

Number Only

Just enter the number (i.e. 261 in your post) not State Road 261. Also along those lines, don't enter directional numbers (i.e. W 21 Street, just 21).

Thanks

Well, that did the trick. I entered several different addresses to check it out and found them all. Thanks for the assist!

Depends on the State

I think it really depends on the state, and how the database was built. I was helping a friend try and find places when he was going to Texas, and we found that you needed to put SRxxx for it to find them.

In Kansas we have our state roads start with Kxx, but in most counties they have a local county name for mailing and 911, so it is not as much of an issue.

I have found you just have to do trial and error, and then write down what you do so you can remember it....smile
