POI's and MP3's dissappeared

I took my GPS on a flight a few days ago, and my MP3s and other files on the SD card are OK. As far as I know, airport scanners shouldn't affect your data.

Did you try running a Windows check disk to see if your SD card is healthy?

I don't know if what I experienced last night will be helpful. I tried to load more MP3's via a laptop to a SD card loaded in a Nuvi 660. Unfortunately my MP3's weren't recognized by the Nuvi even though they appeared to copy over fine. I had to disconnect my Nuvi from my laptop, remove the SD card out of the Nuvi and then load my SD card directly into my laptop and then directly copy my new MP3's over to the SD card. When I reinserted the SD card into my Nuvi my new MP3's were now recognized.

Some strange things can happen when electronics are subjected to magnetic or electrostatic fields. It may be that the airport scanner was different than what we usually see or it may have been putting out noise that exceeded what it should. It might improve your chances of avoiding problems if you wrapped the SD card in aluminum foil or even better would be a metal box with some thickness and no holes.

I thought it was just odd that only the European POI's and mp3's dissappeared and not the US poi's. Maybe when I get back on the plane they will re-appear
