POI's with Mapsource

The latest version of POILoader (2.5.2) uses both the <cmt> and <desc> 'tags', whereas earlier versions would use the data from just one of them.

Since the current version of Mapsource writes your comment data to both fields, it now appears twice on the GPSr.

yea, thanks... just figured it out by reading other post about the layout of the .gpx file. I was able to edit the .gpx file with notepad and close desc desc, then is only displays the cmt

Kind of stupid to see it twice... I am trying to figure out a easyer way....

I was using the custom POI to be able to add the mp3 with a jpg attach to it.

What I am really trying to do is just add a jpg to it.

Thanks for all the info, I pretty much got it all figured out. BTW Hornby, just found GeePeeEx Editor, Very nice job...

Stupid or useful? Yes, to remove it erase the desc in notepad but if you want to add more or different text, just type in between the desc desc/ and it will appear as two unique paragraphs. The 350 limits the comment field to 250 characters but does not limit it in the description box. Think of it as a splitting the POI as a Summary then the Story. Or address/phone number then POI description!

'Stupid' from a Garmin perspective. (Stupid's maybe a bit strong - peculiar maybe?). The latest beta version of Mapsource is still doing this. Garmin's POILoader and Mapsource teams are seemingly unaware of each others' existence

'Useful' - yes definitely, if used for its intended purpose. The forthcoming version of GeePeeEx Editor will use it to get rid of the need for 'Device Specific' modification. This in turn, will make the sharing of Rich-content POIs much easier.
But I've already ditched the 'emulate Mapsource' option ... writing the same information to <cmt> and <desc> is definitely not appropriate, if the target is POILoader V2.5.2.
