nuvi 760 bluetooth

I just purchases a NUVI 760 and so far I have had nothing but problems.

1. I went to upgrade the unit from firmware 2.3 to 2.9 and I god the dreaded "system software message". Evidenlty Garmin has disabled the preboot feature in this series so I had to send it back and wait for a new one.

2. I am also having a problem with bluetooth. According to their website my phone (LG VX8550) is not compatible but I can make a call with no problems. The problem is that I am unable to upload my phonebook. To me having the phonebook is esential and I'm not sure what to try to get it working.

Thanks for any hint/clues on how to get the bluetooth working properly.

That might be why they are saying your phone isn't compatible. With my Motorola phone and my 2820 uploading the phonebook is automatic. anytime the two are in range of one another it just uploads. I don't know if the GPS asks for it or if the phone just says here it is and sends it.

bluetooth on nuvi 760

i was told that only the listed phones would work, so i tried it anyway on my samsung SGH D357 works great. when i switch on my phone and my nuvi760 is within range, my phone alerts me to connect. i press enter and i am connected until i get out of range or switch either phone or GPS off.
All my phone numbers are also visible on my screen when i want to make a phone call

about how long does it take

about how long does it take to send a phonebook of 100 entries. I saw one post that says it took a very very long time but I do not know if that means hours or days. I have left my devices sit for a few hours but nothing.....

Phone Book

My phone is a Samsung SCH-A930 that isn't listed either. It works fine. I can't upload the phone book because the phone doesn't support push technology. That may well be the problem of the original poster. Also, if you have Verizon as your provider, they are known for disabling various bluetooth functions on their phones.

Apart from the fact that my phone doesn't support pushing the phone book to the nüvi, the bluetooth works fine for me.

My provider is Verizon as you thought. How do I go about enabling the push feature on my verizon phone?

I probably have fifty or sixty numbers in my phone, and have never timed it, but I know it doesn't take more then a couple of minutes to load because I have looked at the list four or five minutes after I have got in the car.

My bluetooth experience

My Nuvi 660 pairs with Moto Razr Maxx VE which is not on the supported list. It also pairs with my wife's Samsung. BUT, the pairing drops after a day or so and I have to re-pair it. Phone books transfer without any issues.

LG8600

Bluuetooth worked fine then I did the bluetooth up grade thru Garmin site now my phone can't find it altough it is now listed on my phone from the previous setup before the upgrade

Got it to work manually

I upgraded to code version 2.9 and also upgraded the bluetooth to the latest version. When I did this I was able to manually send the name cards for all my contacts to the NUVI. This is a workaround until bluetooth is fully supported on my phone.

Before I did the upgrades this did not work.
