Help! Poi files

I can load the POI's into my garmin 350 and when I go to the custom poi's I do not see all the catagories that I down loaded....ie: walmarts, gas stations etc. they are in the poi folder on my computer. but they just don't show up even the icons don't appear.....What did I do wrong??

.

Did you load them all at the same time with POI Loader?

Is there any pattern to which ones are there versus which ones aren't there?

How do you have the files structured in the folder(s) on your computer?

Delete All

Well I did it now!!!!!!!I hit delete all and all my Custom Poi"s disappeared so I reloaded them and the loader said congratulations you have successfully loaded your POI's.....not so there is nothing there...No Custom Poi header....I just dont understand..I down loaded them from this site to my desk top then moved them to my poi folder....When I open the folder I can see the icons and the cvs. listings.....

.

Ok, let's check a few things.

What version of POI Loader are you using? If you aren't sure, you can check the version by clicking on the icon in the upper left corner of the POI Loader screen and selecting About ...

Now, when you run POI Loader, what are you selecting as the destination for your Custom POIs? Be sure you are selecting the correct destination. You do this on the screen with the "Find Device" button.

Next, are you sure that you are selecting the correct directory/folder that contains ALL the Custom POI files that you want to load?

When you get the "Success" screen, how many POIs does it say that you loaded? Is this consistent to the number that you think you are loading?

With your nuvi connected to your computer, navigate to the nuvi drive (or the SD card if that's where you put the POIs) and look for a file named POI.GPI. This is the file that contains your Custom POIs.

yee haw

Thanks for the help....I dropped the folder into the nuvi folder then I loaded the pois again and it worked.....I will worry about the icons later...thanks again I am going to quit playing and go to bed...I think better when I am asleep.,....

Same Problem with mine--solution found

I ran into this exact problem last week while loading several custom poi's at one time from the same folder on my computers' hard drive. Your POI Loader will ask you to Browse to the folder on your computer that contains the poi's that you want loaded. It will find ALL the poi's you have listed in that folder and all sub-folders, and load them on your NUVI together as one file named poi.gpi. This file will be placed in your NUVI's Garmin/poi folder. If you load more custom poi's, the same process will be followed and the previous poi.gpi will be over-written and deleted. (!!) It is also difficult to update one single poi in the combined poi.gpi file. To overcome this problem my solution was this: create or find an empty TEMP folder on your computer hard drive just for loading your Garmin gpi files from. Place one poi file (and its associated bmp's and mp3's) in this folder at a time. Use this folder for POI Loader to Browse to. After the loading of this file onto your NUVI is completed, rename that poi from the generic poi.gpi to its original true name..."State_Parks" for example. To load additional poi's to your NUVI, move all files out of your computers TEMP Garmin folder and move in the next files you want loaded. Again, rename this new poi.gpi to its true original name, and repeat the above process for each new poi you need loaded. By renaming your loaded poi's one at a time you will be able to easily find the one you need updated or deleted in the future without updating or deleting all of them. This also prevents the POI Loader from over-writing the files you loaded previously, because none will be labeled poi.gpi.

Rename POI

scall892, that's how I prefer to do it too. I find it simpler and easier to organize but others prefer to reload them all each time.
