nuvi 360 battery life

I'm concerned about the short battery life (2 - 3 hours) of my nuvi 360, which is about 1 1/2 years old. The manual suggests it should be between 4 - 8 hours, "depending on usage". I would appreciate comments on other users' experience with this unit. Thanks.

My 350, which is the same as far as the battery, last for about 4 hours

Do you have BT turned off? Do you have the brightness turned to the lowest level? Do you have headphones plugged in? Do you have mp3 player off (not playing)? Most importantly, is your backlight timeout set for 15 or 30 seconds?

I'm sure that to get their target of 4-8 hours you would have to do those types of things. I'm certain that their 4 hour figure is not the minimum you might get with everything running. I'm betting you haven't minimized your power draw to the extent you can, and still use it. After 1 1/2 years you might have lost a bit, but I'd bet not much.

The battery life of most rechargable batteries depends on the amount of times they have been recharged and discharged...typically around 500 times is a standard conservative number before they lose their ability to perform as new...

I'd say 4 hours is fairly typical assuming you're using the power saving strategies mentioned above. It requires signficant battery power to light that screen.

Thanks for all your comments. I have checked and reset some of the controls you mentioned and will see if that helps. I doubt the problem is due to the number of recharges, as the unit has not been used on a daily basis.
