A pedestrian is someone who thought there were a couple of gallons left in the tank.

They have built in alerts

If you loaded them with POILoader in auto mode, then you are good to go. The alerts are built into the POI file.

If you downloaded to your Navi and not to your SD card. You do not have to do any thing. Navi will alert you and place a red alert on top at the same time.

Sorry for the confusion

If you did not select manual mode, then you are in easy/automatic mode. This only means that the pois load in with the setting associated with the file and no user interaction is required.

There are lots of cameras in

There are lots of cameras in your area, if you find some missing send me an email.

Miss POI

redlights

Did you load any other POI's to your Nuvi after the redlight cameras POI? If so you might have overwritten the files with the other file.

Good Point

Rgroves makes a good point - you will want to load all of your POI files at once (put them in the same directory). If you load one, then go back and load another from a different directory, it will over write the initial POI (i.e. red light cameras, then later all local burger joints, you will lose the red light camera file). Lots of good info on this site in the FAQ section. Welcome.

Good Point

I have a folder named POI and keep all the files in it, with a couple sub folders under the main. Parks etc.

If I obtain a new or updated file just put it in with the others and then when I load all of them transfer over and overwrite the existing POI files.

I loaded POI's into my Sd

I loaded POI's into my Sd card. They are there, but I got no alerts on a recent trip. Must POI's be loaded into the unit and not a SD card to work? The custom POI alert box is activated, but nothing happens.

Also, did I read in a post or the FAQ's that POI's do not work in 3d mode, that you must use track up or north up mode to get them to work? I can't find the message where I thought I saw it.

I have a 650......thanks

.

They should work installed either on the unit or the SD card. That assumes you used the POI Loader in manual and set alerts with a distance or speed. Also, assumes that you enabled alerts on your GPS. If you are just talking about redlight/speed alerts, they have automatic alerts and you don't need to set them manually.

What you saw about 3d I think was that the icons may not show up as they will in the other modes.

If you do a search, there are threads about under what conditions alerts may not work.

OK, Thanks I loaded using

OK, Thanks

I loaded using the POI loader in automatic mode, and the alerts are activated on the GPS units settings. So I guess they should activate with whatever the standard distance is set to.

I'll keep trying.

that is true indeed!

i drove one not long ago and didnt hear an alert. I will try it again. If not, I will find those coordinates.

Germantown/Mont County as a whole get new ones quite often lately.
