OLATHE, Kan./April 1, 2008/PR Newswire — Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN), today announced the next evolution of the nüvi series designed for aging baby boomers. The nüvi 690 is designed as tribute to the 1969 Summer of Love. The distinctive exterior will feature peace and hemp symbols. The built-in mp3 player is preloaded with songs of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. Additionally, the Text-To-Speech voices provide a choice between the actual voices of Cheech Marin or Tommy Chong. This special edition model also features improved mapping and routing features, faster satellite acquisition, navigation by photos, FM traffic updates or dynamic content from MSN Direct, and alerts if police are approaching. Available immediately by retailers, the 690 will be sold as the Groovy nüvi.

The nüvi 690 has such a sensor. It is called the FuzzAlert (patent pending). It's just like the Red Light Camera alert except it is set to go off whenever you are in proximity of a donut shop.
