Are you saving to POI folder on computer or GPSr?

For clarification, are you saving it to the computer or GPSr POI folder?

Since you can play it with the mp3 player on your GPSr, it sounds like you copied it directly to the device. The mp3 file needs to be in the same folder on your computer as the .csv or .gpx file that you access with POI Loader. POI Loader will then combine the files during the POI load process. (You won't see the mp3 on your device.)

Actually saved the mp3 to my Desktop then Opened Cutom POI Folder on Computer found the cvs file with the name I wanted to add the Sound to and Pointed the Downloaded mp3 file to hat Folder then Ran the POI on my Garmin c -550

Ok, I'm confused. In one of your posts, you say that the MP3 shows up on your Garmin. This can only happen if you COPIED the MP3 to your Garmin. That's not what you want to do.

- Create a folder on your computer.

- Place the Custom POI file (csv) and the Sound file (mp3) in that folder.

- Check to be sure that the names are identical other than the file extension and that you don't have double file extensions.

- Then run POI Loader and "point" it to the folder that you put everything in. Then they will all load to your Garmin.

- If you do all this correctly and still aren't getting the sound, can you verify that you are getting the DEFAULT sound on your unit for the alert. If not, the alert is not set properly or you are not close enough to the location.

Clarification?

I'm not sure I understand some of your terminology. You say you, "Pointed the Downloaded mp3 file to that Folder." Do you mean you moved (or copied) the file to that folder? Did you name it identically to the csv file (except for the extension)?

Then you say you "Ran the POI on my Garmin." Do you mean that you ran the program POI loader, pointing to the folder containing both files as the source for POI Loader?

Just follow the directions

As outlined by MM http://www.poi-factory.com/node/4360

I'd say if the mp3 is showing up "as an mp3" and playing as an mp3, the file was drag/drop, copy/paste result. A properly placed mp3 used for an alert to a csv/gpx file will not show up and play as an mp3 song that's played via the mp3 player.

When the csv/gpx file and mp3 file and bmp file are all placed in the same folder, and loaded at the same time using POI Loader, there is not a problem.

Again, follow the directions outlined by MM in that link above
