"Life is a journey - enjoy the ride!" Garmin nuvi 255

At the very least they have the most bewildering assortment>>>

of new units...sheeesh, I was looking to replace my wife's c330 and by the time I finished reading the Garmin site I was pretty well turned off...is there some reason we need 17 T2S; 13 Wide screens, 12 bold colors, etc. I may not be the smartest guy in the world but I am far from the dumbest...if I can't get a straight answer as to which unit serves my needs in about 5 minutes I don't need any of them.

Hey Garmin, if you're reading this...remember KISS!

I would have to disagree

I would have to disagree with Ted.
Garmins site is well thought out and easy to navigate. They have a lot of different models and options for everyones needs. And everyone has a different need in their gps's. KISS does apply when you just want something simple, which garmin offers at their lowest price point. If you want more options, off course you pay more, thus the wide variety they offer.

Another resason you see so many models out there is because garmin supports their older models. Its good to see that out there as most companies only display that years models. Ive personally compared models from previous yrs to see what upgrades they have done the current model. From a customer service point of view, that is awesome..

but why on Earth is this necessary:

By way of example only of course...as I could only compare five at once I could not fully illustrate the issue...but one for 266.65 and one for 266.66...that's just silly smile

garmin comparison

Hiya Ted,
The link for the comparisons shows exactly what is different between the 200 and 205 models. there are a few feature upgrades that are worthy in the 205. Im assuming the 200 is an older model no longer available for purchase from Garmin, but the 205 is. the 200 is still available for sale else wheres.

I personally think its great to see the stats of the older model, especially if I were to buy it from somewhere else. Like i said earlier, a lot of company wont publish their old models. Its a great reseach utility when shopping and comparing like models. Its nice to have it in one site, as opposed to looking at several sites for the same info. I do agree it can be confusing, but to get the best deals you have to be a saavy shopper and sort thru all the superfluous data. Ive spent several hours with the comparisons on garmins sites before I settled for my nuvi 680.

Garmin has done the customer a great service by listing their older models and also keeping the site current. This is one of the reasons Garmin is a leader in the industry.

exactly

Could not agree more, having dealt with Magellan I can see why Garmin is Numero 1

Garmin 38 - Magellan Gold - Garmin Yellow eTrex - Nuvi 260 - Nuvi 2460LMT - Google Nexus 7 - Toyota Entune NAV

.

I think that the Garmin site could be improved. It should have a list of features that can be checkmarked. Then the site comes up with a list of GPS's that have those features. The thing is that a lot of them seem to have the same features, the main difference being the introduction date.
