Displaying POI Icons on Garmin 200w in 3D map view

I'm sure I've missed something in the docs ... Can the 200w display POI (Garmin provided and/or user provided) Icons in the 3D Map view? The only time I see icons is in the 2D view and they are so small you need a stylus to select them.

Any help is appreciated

Nuvi  250

I have read the faq and another thread on the subject of loading icons. Now that I have read that it only will display in 2D, that helps a bit. With all that said, I still can not get the icons I have loaded or think I have loaded to appear on my screen?
They are from this site and are the correct size and the exact name as the poi file. Is their something else I am missing?

Zoomed In?

Are you zoomed in to at least 200 ft? What do you see when you choose a specific location from your POI's and choose "Show Map"? Is nothing there? Is the wrong icon there?

Thanks for your help. Initially the icon is a checkered flag, So I zoom it in like you suggested and the icon for the POI is there.
Not as cool of a feature as I first thought.
Thanks again for your help.

What happens with POI icons that you aren't navigating to? (ie no checkered flag)

POI icons

They are there. On thing I didn't realize is that I needed to be out of 3D and the next was the amount of zoom I needed to see them, but the icons are there.
I have always used my GPS in 3D and rarely zoom in. I am finding out there are things I can do with it I didn't know I could ?

I think that most (I know for sure that I do) ppl here use track up mode. I think it gives you the most flexibility

POI

I have had more time to test the features since loading POI's and icons and I have to agree with you.

Still Checkered Flag

Also need a little help with the icons. Loaded them in (I believe properly) , when I enter a destination and select "show map" the appropriate icon appears perfectly, but when I drive to destination I'm still getting the checkered flag. Whether 2d or 3d and zoomed all the way in. Can someone help me? Is this the way it's meant to be?

MISSING POI ?

To All,

I think the checkered flag covers up the POI icon.

Try routing just past the POI about 1000 ft.
I think you will see the POI and the checkered flag.

If my destination is in my Custom POI that I have added icons to I can see them in 3D mode.

By the way with my wide screen I use 24x24 Icons for my custom poi's.

The checkered flag is always going to take priority over the POI icon.

My question is if you are routing to the POI as a destination, why do you need to see its icon? You already know what the location is because you selected it.

My Bad

I thought the icon was to replace the checkered flag (that would have been neat). The only place I can see the icon is in the "show map" function before i start the route.
I just wanted to know if I was doing everything correct. I get wrapped up in the details of every piece of electronics I own.

Yeah, the Custom Icons replace the default gray dot for the Custom POIs. But the checkered flag will always take precedence over any icons (custom or built in).

The value in the Custom Icons comes from being able to differentiate among the different Custom POIs when looking at the map screen (as opposed to just seeing a bunch of gray dots).

But again, if you are routing to a location, you already know what it is.
