Nuvi - distance to go, time to destination

I've read posts where the complaint is that the Nuvi does not show the distance (remaining) to the destination and the time (remaining) to destination. I discovered that you can see this on the Nuvi 200, and probably applies to other Nuvi's too. Of course, it takes a few key presses to get this information unlike the competition.

1. Set a destination you want to go to and hit GO.
2. Once the calculation is complete hit the green bar on the top of the screen. This brings up turn-by-turn directions.
3. Hit the Show Map button on the bottom of the turn-by-turn screen.

My Nuvi shows the distance (remaining) to destination and the estimated time (remaining) to destination. One can also follow these steps while enroute to a destination. The distance and time information is updated on the fly.

You are also able to see the total milage left by tapping the "ETA" and in the top upper right hand corner, it shows how far you have gone as well as how far you have to go.

Charley,

Charley,

Which screen is this in? I can't recall seeing an "ETA" button on the Nuvi 250 / 200 screens.

under normal navigation to a destination, my 200 shows ETA and miles to go in the lower left/right of the 3D map view screen.

Rmaining information

I will certainly give this a go on my 670. But if you have the eta already can't one figure out how much time is left, really! rolleyes The distance on the other hand will be nice if it works.

Yes, the "arrival" button on the bottom left shows the estimated arrival time at destination - example: Arrival 10:46. It doesn't show that the estimated time to get to destination, for example 23 minutes.

Of course one could calculate it by looking at the current time and calculating it based on the arrival time.

I thought the lower right showed the distance to the next turn not the distance to the destination?

charley,

I assume the ETA button is the "arrival" button on the bottom left? Hitting that brings up the trip meter where I can see the distance to destination - but not the distance remaining nor the time remaining.

ahh...must have read the

ahh...must have read the original post too fast sad

yes....ET"A" is what it shows, not ET"E"...but in all my years of flying and using GPS, I guess I've always wanted ETA, so the nuvi "looks right" to me.

and the miles may very well be to next turn. the last time I used the GPS, and needed to see that information, I think my "next turn" was very close to my destination, so that's why I must've thought it was total.

now that I think of it,

now that I think of it, there's also a screen that shows the entire route on a map, and includes the ET"E" and trip distance at the bottom. I'm just wondering if during the trip that screen would show the updated information???

Just tried these steps on my 670. You end up on a turn by turn screen not any ETA info, etc. These are as another post indicated on the main routing screen for your destination. So it appears not all Nuvi's are the same.

Do you have a "show map" button?

On my Nuvi hitting the green bar on top bring up the turn by turn instructions. At the bottom of this screen is the "show map" button. Hitting this shows a 2D map and "Distance: x km", "Time: xx:xx"

And yes, this info is updated on the fly.

Awe yes, indeed the 670 has all these features. So to recap, on the show map screen the time is eta on the turn by turn if you scroll to the end of the routing the indeed the distance and time left to go appear and change constantly.

Can't really see the benefit of this but each to his/her own.
