Yep
Read the FAQ shown above and also do a search for your Model #.

Then you can do a search for particular subjects. It's ALL covered here one place or another !

Things to do first
I found that driving around to known locations and getting familiar with how my units work normally was important. That way I know how much to "trust" them in a new area.
What are you going to want to do? Play mp3, create poi files or load proximity alerts from the site? Find out how you want to use your unit, look at the FAQ, and then let us know how to help with what you don't understand.
Register your unit with GARMIN online, and check for updates. If it ever goes missing you might get it back faster. Make sure to keep the garmin lock enabled and don't leave it in your car.

Tip
Use a screen protector. I like the added protection. I also use a padded hard case which has a stylus clip to protect my unit when it isn't on the dash. I can clip on belt, throw under seat, or put it in a briefcase/bag without being concerned about scratches or damage. My 2 cents

I was showing a coworker
I was showing a coworker about her GPSr and she didn't know that if you press the lower left corner of the screen, you get the speedometer.

Default Settings
As you drive around as suggested to become familiar with your new device, I would suggest leaving the default settings in place. When you have become familiar with the 'normal' behavior, you will better understand the preferences and avoidane settings. Have a great time with your new travel companion.

Tip Site
Someone posted a link to this site a few weeks ago.

There are some cool tips there.
Register!
Go to the Garmin website (Garmin.com) and register your unit! Download the webupdater and the POI Loader software to your computer. Download the manual specific to your Nuvi and save it. And read it. As far as this site (POI-Factory), support them with a subscription donation (which gives you access to the Redlight Camera and Speed Camera files) and don't be afraid to ask questions.
Good luck, and enjoy GPS'ing!
Garmin 765T...Is it about the destination, or is it about the journey?
Red Light Cams...
You definately want the red light cam database. It is really good.
RE: Tips For A New Owner
Hi preed,
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, so I will, DON'T leave your Nuvi 750 inside your empty car where it can be seen by others!
Much has been written, on this site and elsewhere, regarding people having their windows broken by thieves wanting their GPS. That also goes for the mount and wiring.

Advice
Also consider getting yourself a carrying case because you don't want to be leaving your device in the glove compartment. A carrying case will protect the GPS from damage by keys, phones, etc.
