OFF ramp - ON ramp

Not sure if there's something I screwed up in my set-up, but lately I've noticed that my 660 tells me to take an off ramp and continue stright ahead back onto the on ramp. I don't get it.

Yeah, ppl have experienced

Yeah, ppl have experienced that in the past. Don't believe that it has anything to do with your settings. One of the quirks of the GPSr mapping and logic.

ramps

Did it happen recently where as in the past, it didn't happen at all? If so, you probably have your setting to "Shortest Distance". You'll need to change it back to "Fastest Time".

I'll double check the

I'll double check the settings for time vs. distance. I don't recall making any changes, but the issue seems be a recent problem.

I get that

But mine is attributed to the traffic service & avoid traffic setting.

If you travel the same route often...and use the traffic service and have avoid traffic selected you'll learn to ignore the "exit and re-enter" thing.

I usually don't "go to" Work or Home. Just drive, and I'm still alerted to traffic/accident problems. If I need to deviate from normal course, I can easily "go to".
I actually had to do this the other morning, there was an accident that closed 4 lanes of traffic and the only opening was the shoulder. I was on the way to work, so selected "go to" "work" and got off the interstate and went around the incident. Still got to work 30 minutes before my boss who was stuck in the traffic.

Navigation logic

I've noticed routing seems to be such you are making a right turn into the destination. Generally not bad but not intuitive at times. I've noticed if I leave a main route at an intersect for gas, I'm not routed directly back to the main route even though it's the closest route. It maybe cause I've enabled to avoid U-turns. So far haven't been routed thru an off-ramp

Me too....

My FM traffic enabled, fastest time set, 770 seems to be doing this more and more.

For example, it constantly wants me to exit and re-enter westbound I80 near Golden Gate Fields.

It really does seem more like a "bug" than a "feature"!

Off ramp on ramp

The off ramp-on ramp thingy happened to me as well. Not very often, but every once in a while. Just one of those GPS idiosyncrasies

Sometimes I see 'turn onto

Sometimes I see 'turn onto ramp' at some point in time when it's too short to be 'unnamed road'

Even 'turn off ramp' follows.

This really is starting to bug me!

This type of behavior is happening on my 770 with increasing frequency.

I am no programmer, but it sure seems to me that this sort of off/on directions could be easily fixed....

Struggling to get over to an unexpected exit, then almost immediately re-entering the same Freeway are not the safest maneuvers on the planet. Someone is going to get into an accident and blame our buddies at Garmin for this.

Ramp not Recognized

I have found a couple of cases where the new Garmin 2010.30 map doesn't recognize a ramp, until your part way around it. As a result, it sends you on a longer route to get somewhere. I've reported this to Navteq.

It's possible this occurred on previous versions of the map and I simply didn't drive that route.

Ramps

Fortunately on my 855 I have a zoom setting that enables me to see the projected route for the next mile or so. If the gps tells me to take an unexpected exit, it's very easy to see that it's a mistake and I can ignore it.
(Yes, I then get the recriminating, suffering "recalculating" phrase. Actually I've changed the term so I now find it amusing.)

nuvi 855. Life is not fair. I don't care who told you it is.

Have you tried the latest

Have you tried the latest 4.80 update via Webupdater? There was an issue with ramps, but not sure exactly what it was.
